Have You Smelled Your House Lately?

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Palisades 1I suppose if you are buying perfume it would be a good idea to smell it before you buy it. But if it is a house, would you pay attention to the smell?

There are many reasons why people buy houses. Maybe it is because they are fully furnished and while taking care of, in a good safe neighborhood, looks comfortable, close to work, has a great view or maybe it just looks right. But, smell is not one of the things they pay attention to.

Now the smell outside the home, like that surrounding Nyack NY real estate, could add to the ambience of the house.

Unlike most animals who rely on their sense of smell for survival, we humans often take smells for granted. That is because we use mostly our sense of sight and hearing. We humans only notice smells when they become offensive to us. Even then we have the chance of growing accustomed to them and then we forget they are there in the first place.

This is something you should watch out for when you are selling your house. Your house might pass any discriminating homebuyer’s checklist with flying colors. You have repainted the walls in a soothing cream brown, you have had the kitchen floorboards polished, installed additional security system and even thrown in new lawn chairs for the garden. But if you really want to make a subtle good impression and an effective one, aim at your prospective buyers’ noses.

Get rid of those little smelly details. These are the ones you no longer pay attention to like pet odors and cigarette smoke. These are usually the ones prospective buyers notice the most. Do not use a deodorizing spray because they just mask the odors and do not eliminate the problem. This means the dog or cat to stay in a garage or backyard and no more smoking in the house.

Now you need to really, really clean up. Wash carpets, curtains, rags, any fabric that stores odors. Be prepared, this may include most of your wardrobe if you or someone in the household is a smoker. Make sure that your lawn and garden or cleaned of all debris as well. Hopefully, if you have them, your roses or other flowers will be blooming. Many Piermont real estate homes sold quickly because the first impression was lawn, garden and beautiful flowers outside the home.

Now, fill your house with smells that make people think of home. Just think about it for a moment. What smell triggers a memory from your childhood back home? Was that the smell of freshly baked bread? Or was it the smell of apple pie baking for dessert? Really, anything that smells good and worry free is good. You could light up a room with candles or essential oils for a more natural and pleasant smelling atmosphere. But nothing synthetically induced by a spray can. You could use of one of the oils, like lavender, and has a positive calming effect.

Smells trigger memories and emotions in all of us. This is because our brain’s are wired that way. Our brains automatically connect a memory with the smell or a sound.

When you are giving a tour of your house to visitors, you want them to remember the house long after they have left. You want them to have a good memory when they think of your house as a home. Pretty fresh flowers in a vase might not be your home’s strongest selling point, but they can help put those visitors into a selling move can make a difference.

Staging Equipment

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

Stage 7The presentation or ‘look’ of an event venue, lecture theatre or seminar space is an important element of successful event management. To make a special event a success, having the right performers onstage is important. But just as important, professional staging suppliers will tell you, is the staging you build to support those performers. The right staging protects against mishaps that could stop the show.

The biggest mistake event planners make when using staging is not supporting the stages properly with enough legs and braces. Indeed, failure to give enough support onstage could mean that the stage collapses.

The view of a professional installer ensures a professional-quality stage. Trained personnel have the ability to unload, install and strike staging equipment quickly and safely. Using professionals can relieve a lot of stress and frustration that is caused when planning an event. Once you have hired them, you have nothing more to worry about.

The most popular staging for special events is a modular staging system that works together to provide you with a secure, flexible and complete solution with a total service so your solution is delivered, assembled and dismantled without you doing a thing. A popular staging for events is the multilevel risers for elevated seating along with rotating stages, elevated dance platforms and mobile stages. The staging options most in demand are ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and tiered stages.

Remember, whatever the event for venue that you were planning, get a professional to advise you and do the work. This will ensure a fun and safe event for all.

Hard Drive Crashed?

Data 2

Your worst nightmare has just become a horrifying reality. You are now hearing that little voice in your head mockingly say “you should have backed it up”. That voice just keeps echoing throughout your head as you check all of the important information that you just lost. Where is your client database, your e-mail from the past year, your entire inventory database and even your family photos?

What is worse, you have got an important business meeting in two-weeks and key information you need to to get that account was also lost. You call a technician and have him come over to check the computer ou in t just to hear the worst news of all. Your data has been lost. When a hard drive crashes, it is the time to worry about what you “should have done” but “what you need to do” now.

Today disk data recovery is a multi-million dollar industry. A number of hard disk data recovery firms out just might exceed the number of McDonald’s restaurants for the entire planet. These people specialize in helping retrieve data on anything from hard drives to flash-ROMs.

There are different types of data file recovery and the costs very. What can you realistically expect when it comes to getting your data recovered?

Hardware failure is responsible for approximately 45% of all data loss. The first thing you need to do is to shut down your system when you suspect that the hard drive is crash. Do not be concerned about shutting it down the proper way just unplug it. Do not try to run off the shelf data recovery software or drive utilities. These applications will assume that your hard drive is functioning properly and may increase the risk of permanent data loss. This was the advice given by Gillware Inc. when asked what the first thing is a person should do. The next thing you should do is call your technician or you could give Gillware Inc. a call.

Where to Buy Concert or Sports Event Tickets

Monday, May 19th, 2008

Tickets 8There are several ways to get tickets to see your favorite sports event, artist or band in concert when they visit your area or somewhere across the country. The old fashion way would be standing in line at the box office, but the best way is on the internet.

The first you need to know when and where the event will take place so you can find information on upcoming events. There are several great sources on the internet such as actionseating.com, pollstar.com, livedaily.com and citysearch.com. Also many events have websites where you can get on and e-mail list that will keep you updated.

The box office websites such as Action Seating, Ticketmaster and Tickets.com also have e-mail lists you may join. But do not forget the old fashion way of listening to your favorite radio stations. Many stations have online websites where you can sign up to receive email notifications of upcoming shows.

So how do you get the best tickets for events that are in high demand? Most theater and concert tickets sell out in a couple of days and some in minutes. Sporting events, like Super Bowl 2009, maybe sold out months in advance

If the artist or actor has a fan club, consider joining it. Many fan clubs get tickets that are only available to club members first. Even this is not a grantee of getting the best tickets and you still may not get any tickets

Radio stations sometimes will sponsor presales for an event. Again, you will need to sign up for information at the stations website. Just like the fan club, there are only a limited number of tickets available.

One way to get tickets is to buy World Series season tickets for any season tickets. Many events sell season tickets. This can be the most expensive way of obtaining tickets. Season tickets can cost $5,000-$12,000 or more due to the fact that you are buying the same ticket for every event at the same location.

There is always the general public sale of tickets if you cannot get tickets any other way. This is the sale that happens just before an event that includes all tickets back are leftover. Then you could always go to the event to try to get them there. But be careful. You could be getting counterfeit or stolen tickets this way.

So, the event is completely sold out and there are no tickets available at all. What can you do now?

One option is to visit websites like Stubhub where fans and season tickets holders can sell their tickets. Stubhub will charge a service fee of 10% to the purchase price of the tickets.

You can also try Ebay. They will usually have a good deal of tickets being offered for sale. Once again, be careful, because these tickets are being sold by individuals who may ask any price no matter how outrageous. Most tickets sold on Ebay are sold buy auction, where the price is determined by the highest bidder.

You may also check your local newspaper or online classified sites. Many of these have sections where tickets maybe sold. Just remember to be careful of the scalpers and counterfeit tickets.
